Senior Legal Associate (Congo)

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Associate to support our legal and business advisory operations in Congo. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience and strong knowledge of commercial law, regulatory compliance within the OHADA legal framework and Labour Law. This role involves advising clients across key sectors including energy, infrastructure, financial services, and general corporate matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal and tax advisory services to local and international clients operating in Congo.
• Draft and review contracts, legal opinions, and corporate documentation.
• Advise on corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, and investment frameworks.
• Conduct legal research and provide updates on local legal developments.
• Liaise with government authorities and regulators on behalf of clients.
• Support regional and cross-border transactions under OHADA and local law and regulations
• Collaborate with internal teams and contribute to firmwide knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in legal and tax advisory.
• In-depth knowledge of OHADA law, and local commercial practices.
• Experience working with or advising international clients preferred.
• Strong legal drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Fluency in French (insofar as the candidate will work in Congo); professional working knowledge of English is highly desirable.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple assignments independently.

• Experience in the energy or infrastructure sectors in highly desirable.
• Good knowledge of judiciary procedures would be appreciated
• Strong interpersonal and client relationship management skills.
